The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) will hold the second edition of the Nigeria Broadcasting Awards (TNBA) on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the NAF Conference Centre, Kado, Abuja, from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. The event, endorsed by BON's 74th General Assembly in Kano in 2021, aims to celebrate excellence in broadcast media. A total of 204 entries were received for works produced in 2024, judged across 24 categories by a panel led by former National Broadcasting Commission DG, Dr Danladi Bako. The committee included members from ARCON, NBC, and veteran broadcasters.

Honours will be awarded to active practitioners and industry veterans, including Shyngle Wigwe, former DG of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ambassador Yemi Farounbi, Dr John Momoh, Malam Abubakar Jijiwa, Hajiya Sa'a Ibrahim, and Mrs Bimbo Oloyede. Posthumous awards will recognise High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Timawus Mathias, Okokon Ndem, Chief Mrs Anike Agbaje-Williams, and Patrick Ityohegh. Recognition will also go to Minister of Information Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Governors Bassey Edet Otu, Dauda Lawal, Uba Sani, and former BON Executive Secretary Obadiah Tohomdet. Corporate honourees include DAAR Communications Plc, MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, Desmins Broadcasting (DITV), and Voice of Nigeria.

Honouring Shyngle Wigwe and Raymond Dokpesi in the same event blurs the line between public service and private influence in broadcasting. While Wigwe's tenure at NTA represents institutional leadership, Dokpesi's legacy is tied to media ownership and political proximity. Recognising both under the banner of "excellence" suggests BON values visibility as much as editorial integrity. For Nigerian audiences, this signals that influence in media may matter more than accountability.
