The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 38-year-old Kehinde Joseph and his 13-year-old son, John Joseph, over illegal firearm possession. The arrest occurred on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at around 11 a.m. along the Sagamu/Ogijo Road during a stop-and-search operation by the command's Quick Response Squad. The younger suspect was intercepted on a tricycle near the Lafarge area, where a search yielded a locally made pistol, one live cartridge, and a mask. According to police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the boy could not account for the items and stated the firearm belonged to his father. Following the lead, police arrested Kehinde Joseph. Both suspects and the seized items have been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department. DSP Babaseyi confirmed they will be charged in court after investigations. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the officers involved and reaffirmed the command's zero-tolerance policy on illegal weapons. He urged the public to report suspicious activities using official emergency lines.
