Hon. Hassan Kaikaku Jakduwa, member representing Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency in Yobe State, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He announced the move on Sunday through a post on his official Facebook page, stating it followed extensive consultations and personal reflection. Jakduwa said his decision was motivated by a need to align with a political platform that would boost his effectiveness and bring more development opportunities to his constituency. "My choice is driven by the desire to align with a platform that will further enhance my capacity to serve effectively and attract more opportunities and development to our constituency. I am confident that this step will strengthen our collective efforts toward improving the lives of our people," he said.
He expressed gratitude to the APC leadership and members for their support, and thanked his constituents for their continued trust. Jakduwa reaffirmed his commitment to service, peace, and progress in Bade/Jakusko, Yobe State, and Nigeria.
A second-term lawmaker switching parties midstream signals less about ideology and more about political survival. Jakduwa's exit from the PDP and swift embrace of the APC fits a pattern seen across Nigeria's political landscape—where party loyalty often bends to access and influence. With the APC already dominant in Yobe, this move strengthens his position within the ruling structure rather than challenges it. For constituents, the real test will be whether this shift brings tangible projects or just reshuffles political comfort.
