Hundreds of All Progressives Congress supporters in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State endorsed President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid and declared their support for Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Salihu Yakubu Danladi, as their preferred governorship candidate for 2027. The rally, held on Sunday in Bode-Saadu, drew party loyalists, residents, and key stakeholders who gathered at the council secretariat and other strategic locations. Speaking at the event, Executive Chairperson of Moro LGA, Mariam Abdulwasiu, affirmed the dual endorsement and called for the zoning of the APC's House of Representatives ticket to Moro.
Former INEC commissioner in Kwara State, Ishola Ajibade, who spoke on behalf of the chairperson, praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration for achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture. He stated that sustaining these gains required a successor aligned with the current leadership, citing Danladi's eight-year tenure as a productive and collaborative Speaker. Danladi, described as a seasoned leader and chairman of the Nigerian Conference of APC Speakers, was presented as the ideal candidate to continue the administration's legacy.
Former Deputy Speaker Mathew Okedare credited Tinubu for ensuring federal allocations that enabled salary payments and project financing in Kwara. He noted the constitutional bar on a third term for AbdulRazaq and positioned Danladi as the logical successor. Former lawmaker Babatunde Paku declared that Kwara North, which has not produced a governor since 1999, must lead in 2027. Council Secretary Nura Muhammed added that equity and justice demand a governor from Kwara North, endorsing Danladi as the only capable candidate from the region.
The Moro LGA APC rally isn't just about endorsements—it's a calculated push to position Salihu Yakubu Danladi as the heir to AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's political project. By anchoring his candidacy on continuity and regional equity, the move tightens the grip of Kwara's ruling elite on the 2027 succession. For Nigerians in Kwara North, this signals a rare chance at the governorship—if party dynamics align. Danladi's eight-year legislative profile now serves as his primary campaign asset.
