The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called for national unity and hope amid growing socio-economic and security challenges. CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh delivered the message in his Easter declaration on Sunday from Abuja, anchoring it on the theme of resurrection and renewal. He stated that the resurrection of Jesus Christ proves that "rising again is always possible" no matter the depth of hardship. Okoh acknowledged widespread fatigue across the country, noting that many Nigerians feel unsafe or are struggling to meet basic needs.
He emphasized that Easter symbolizes the return of hope and the chance for new beginnings after periods of despair. "But Easter tells us this is not the end. We do not have to remain where we are. We can rise, rebuild, and move forward, together," Okoh said. He urged leaders to demonstrate purpose through action, not rhetoric, stressing that people must "feel leadership, not just hear it." Religious institutions were called upon to serve as moral anchors, offering support and direction. Okoh also warned against fear and division, encouraging solidarity as a path to national recovery.
