He described the violence as tragic and contrary to God's will, making the remarks in his 2026 Easter message issued on Sunday. Awoshiri emphasized that Easter symbolizes victory over death and hope over despair, urging Christians to reflect on its spiritual meaning amid ongoing insecurity. "Easter is not merely a seasonal celebration, but a profound spiritual reality that defines our faith. It reassures us that despair is never the end and that, in Christ, victory is certain," he said.
He called for peace, unity, and tolerance among all residents, regardless of ethnic or religious differences. Awoshiri lamented the loss of lives and destruction of property in Southern Taraba, stating that development cannot flourish in chaos. He urged an end to aggression and retaliation, calling for dialogue and justice. While acknowledging efforts by the state government, security agencies, and local vigilante groups, he pushed for more sustained action. Awoshiri also appealed for support for displaced persons through donations of food, clothing, and medical supplies. He expressed sympathy to victims' families, affirming that "hope must never be lost."
