Hon. Hassan Jakduwa, member representing Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency in Yobe State, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). He announced the defection on Sunday through a post on his official Facebook page, stating the move followed extensive consultations and personal reflection. Jakduwa said his decision was motivated by a need to align with a political platform that would boost his ability to deliver development to his constituency. "My choice is driven by the desire to align with a platform that will further enhance my capacity to serve effectively and attract more opportunities and development to our constituency," he said.
He expressed confidence that the switch would strengthen efforts to improve the lives of constituents. Jakduwa thanked APC leaders for their support and acknowledged his backers in the PDP for their understanding. He reaffirmed his commitment to service, peace and progress in the constituency, Yobe State and Nigeria.
A lawmaker switching parties is hardly news in Nigeria, but Hassan Jakduwa's quiet exit from the PDP suggests the party's grip in Yobe is weakening. His claim that APC offers better tools for development reveals more about political perception than actual policy differences. For constituents, the real test will be whether Jakduwa delivers more projects under APC than he did under PDP. Otherwise, this is just another repositioning in a career, not a shift in service.
