Three Kebbi State officials travelling to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention in Abuja died in a road accident on Saturday. The victims were identified as Hadiza Sabo Warrah, councillor for Warrah Ward; Sahabi Alheri, councillor for Birnin Yauri Ward in Ngaski Local Government Area; and Abubakar Sadiq, Senior Special Assistant to the Kebbi State Governor on social media. Their vehicle had stopped along the route when they were struck by another moving vehicle while crossing the road, according to Yahaya Sarki, the governor's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity. All three sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The APC convention took place as scheduled in the Federal Capital Territory.
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris expressed shock over the incident and offered condolences to the families of the deceased. He described the loss as significant, praising their contributions to the state's development. The governor also prayed for divine forgiveness and eternal rest for the departed.
A governor mourns, but the road to Abuja remains the same deadly path many officials risk every day. The deaths of Hadiza Sabo Warrah, Sahabi Alheri, and Abubakar Sadiq expose how routine political travel can turn fatal with no safeguards in place. When party events draw officials across dangerous highways, the cost of participation becomes tragically clear. No statement changes the fact that their lives were lost on a journey no public duty should demand.
