Kenya has finalised its hosting agreement for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations by transferring the full $30 million fee to CAF, securing its place as a joint host alongside Tanzania and Uganda. Cabinet Secretary for Sports Salim Mvurya confirmed the payment in an official statement, emphasising Kenya's preparedness and financial reliability. He noted that a restructured Multi-Agency Local Organizing Committee now includes public and private sector leaders to oversee preparations. Mvurya stressed that the committee would address every operational area to guarantee a smooth tournament.
When Salim Mvurya says Kenya's $30 million payment "reaffirms credibility," he means the country just bought its way into the 2027 AFCON—no guarantees on stadiums, security or fan experience, just a receipt. The restructured committee sounds impressive, but until cranes appear over Nairobi's half-built stadiums, this is a financial handshake, not a readiness certificate.
