The Lagos State Police Command has removed the Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit, commonly known as Taskforce, from traffic control duties. Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani ordered the immediate withdrawal, effective Tuesday. Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the directive, stating it was part of ongoing efforts to streamline law enforcement roles. The Taskforce, previously seen managing traffic at major intersections, will now focus solely on environmental sanitation and special offences. Traffic management duties have been reassigned to the Mobile Police (MOPOL) and other designated traffic officers. No further details were provided on how the transition would be monitored or enforced.
