Tinubu Orders Security Agencies to Hunt Down Killers in Plateau and Kaduna
President Bola Tinubu has directed security operatives to track down the masterminds behind the recent killings in Plateau and Kaduna states. The president described the incidents as "barbaric and cowardly" and vowed that those responsible will not go unpunished. In a statement released by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed his disappointment at the killing and abduction of wedding guests in Kaduna, calling it an affront to Nigeria's values.
Tinubu emphasized the need for communities to cooperate with security agencies and follow evacuation and relocation advice to maintain peace and protect lives and property. He commended Governors Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau and Uba Sani of Kaduna for their efforts in containing the situation and assured them of his support.
About 28 people were killed in Angwan Rukuba district, Jos, Plateau State, on Sunday, while several others lost their lives in an attack on Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Governor Mutfwang vowed that Plateau State will not succumb to fear or intimidation, despite the attack. He described the victims as law-abiding citizens who were caught off guard.
President Tinubu's words are music to the ears of Nigerians, but actions speak louder than words. The fact that Governor Caleb Mutfwang has been commended for his efforts in containing the situation in Jos is a testament to the importance of state governments in maintaining peace and security. However, the question remains: what tangible steps will be taken to prevent such attacks in the future? The president's promise to acquire more sophisticated equipment for security agencies is a welcome development, but it is only a starting point. Nigerians expect concrete action from their leaders, not just empty promises.
