The Taraba State Police Command has arrested two men suspected of involvement in the killing of three policemen and the vigilante leader in Tor Damisa, Donga Local Government Area. The suspects, Suleman Abdullahi (30) and Idris Kauri (33), both from Akente village in Donga, were apprehended following intelligence gathering and consultations with local stakeholders. Police recovered three service rifles belonging to the slain officers. Commissioner of Police Morkwap S. Dongshal, who assumed command shortly after the attack, confirmed the arrests during a briefing in Jalingo and stated that the suspects have made disclosures aiding the search for others still at large.

Two other men, Torme Terzugwe (39) of Benue State's Kwande Local Government and Job David from Toungo Local Government in Adamawa State, were arrested at Yonko village in Zing Local Government Area. They were on an unregistered motorcycle en route to Ganye in Adamawa State and found in possession of 304 rounds of live cartridges. Investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the ambush. Since taking office, CP Dongshal has visited several troubled communities, including Kofai Ahmadu and Chanchanji in Takum, engaging traditional rulers and youth leaders. His visit to Tor Damisa led to a meeting with Tse Kwe Tor Damisa, the area's traditional ruler, which contributed to the breakthrough in the case.

💡 NaijaBuzz Take

CP Morkwap S. Dongshal moved within days of taking command to secure arrests in a deadly ambush that killed four security figures. His rapid engagement with local leaders in Tor Damisa directly led to the capture of suspects and recovery of weapons. This shows that consistent, on-the-ground policing and community dialogue can yield results even in volatile zones. For Nigerians in conflict-prone areas, the difference may not be grand policy but whether the local police chief shows up and listens.
