Ms. Patience Ofure-Key, a former presidential aspirant of the People's Redemption Party (PRP), has congratulated the party's newly inaugurated national leadership. In a statement issued Thursday in Abuja, she described the event as a "defining moment" for the party's future. Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the new National Chairman, leads the executive committee. Ofure-Key stressed that the transition goes beyond ceremony, framing it as a strategic phase of rebuilding.
She praised outgoing National Chairman Mallam Falalu Bello for his dedication and for ensuring a smooth handover. His leadership, she said, reflected loyalty and deep commitment to PRP's stability. Ofure-Key, who also heads the Nigerians in Diaspora Chamber of Commerce, urged Nigerians seeking accountable governance to support the PRP. The party, she said, stands on ideology and conscience.
She expressed confidence that the new leadership would strengthen internal discipline, expand grassroots presence, and increase youth and women's participation. Other officials inaugurated include National Secretary Mr Sunday Kanu, National Organising Secretary Mr Nanven Mamdam, National Treasurer Dr Abdullahi Bawayo, and National Financial Secretary Mr Patrick Chuka. Also named are Mr Haruna Buhari as Deputy Chairman (North), Comrade Wolimoh Olajide as Vice Chairman (Southwest), Mr Bello Ishaq as National Public Secretary, Vincent Danladi as Legal Adviser, and Mr Ozu Important as National Youth Leader.
A former presidential aspirant publicly backing the new PRP leadership suggests internal unity for now, but Patience Ofure-Key's emphasis on ideology over ceremony reveals the party's deeper struggle — staying relevant in a crowded opposition space. With Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed at the helm, the real test begins: turning lofty statements about conscience and inclusion into visible party structure and electoral presence. If past PRP performances are anything to go by, goodwill alone won't secure votes.
