Police in Ondo State have arrested five men suspected of belonging to a secret cult following a raid in Akungba-Akoko on March 27. The operation, carried out by the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SACS), targeted a residential building where intelligence reports indicated a gathering of suspected cultists. The suspects were identified as Adesuye Dare 'M', Ayeerun Joshua 'M', Ojo Omole 'M', Adu Dele 'M', and Akeju Idowu 'M'.
According to DSP Abayomi Jimoh, police spokesperson, the men were caught chanting cult slogans and engaging in activities consistent with cult operations. The suspects are believed to be members of the Eiye Confraternity, a group linked to violence and illegal assemblies. They are currently in police custody and have provided statements aiding the ongoing investigation.
Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal praised the swift action of the operatives and acknowledged the public's role in supplying timely intelligence. He reaffirmed the command's zero-tolerance policy toward cultism. The suspects will be charged to court after investigations conclude. Residents are urged to remain alert and report suspicious activities.
