A three-day-old baby has been rescued by police in Nasarawa State after being snatched from his mother's arms in a violent home invasion. The incident occurred in an uncompleted building at Unguwan Bako, Orange Market, Mararaba, where 19-year-old Aisha Bada was sleeping with her infant. She recounted that two men forced their way into the room, one restraining her while the other seized the baby and fled. Her husband was not present at the time, having been in Lagos.

Community leader Chief Abubakar Yusuf Mai Anguwa Baƙo confirmed the abduction and stated it had been reported to authorities. On April 3, 2026, at approximately 4:00 am, police arrested two suspects—Furera Abdulrahman, 35, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39—in connection with the crime. Nasarawa Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel said the baby was found in their possession and was unharmed. He added that both suspects confessed and named an accomplice still at large. The infant was examined at Mararaba Medical Centre and returned to his parents. The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for further work.

That the suspects were apprehended within days suggests police can act swiftly when pressure mounts, even in a state like Nasarawa where security responses are often seen as slow. The fact that Aisha Bada was left alone in an uncompleted building underscores how vulnerable young families are in informal settlements. While the safe return of the baby is a relief, the ongoing manhunt for the third suspect shows the threat isn't fully neutralized. This case, tied to a 19-year-old mother's terrifying account, reveals how thin the line between safety and chaos can be for ordinary Nigerians.
