Property worth billions of naira was destroyed in two separate fire outbreaks in Lagos on Saturday. The first incident occurred at a three-storey commercial building on Oyabiyi Street in Tejuosho, Yaba, opposite the Nigeria Labour Congress office. Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incidents. Controller-General Margaret Adeseye said fire crews from Ikeja, Agege, Somolu, Ilupeju, and Sari Iganmu stations responded rapidly. The fires were contained without any reported casualties. Adeseye credited the emergency teams for preventing the flames from spreading to nearby properties. She urged businesses in commercial zones to follow fire safety regulations, especially where combustible materials are stored. Investigations into the causes of both fires are ongoing.
