Bayelsa Wrestling Team Shines at Diri Wrestling Classics

The 4th Gov. Douye Diri Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, witnessed an impressive display of wrestling prowess by the host team on day 5 of the tournament. Bayelsa secured four medals, including three gold medals, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex. The medals were won in the men's freestyle events in the 70kg, 82kg, and 125kg categories.

In the men's 70kg category, Erofagha Dideikenei emerged victorious, defeating Richard Ebigha of Rivers State in the final. Andrew Ebikeme of Dynamite Club and Ebikedunene Tee of Delta State settled for bronze medals. Solomon Ulabo earned Bayelsa its second gold medal in the 82kg category, defeating Agbonifo Ehichiel of Edo State in the final. James Perekeme of the Nigeria Customs Service and Progress Peter of Dynamite Club took bronze medals.

Zikeanh Amen added to Bayelsa's tally by winning gold in the 125kg category, defeating Atere Kehinde of Ogun State in the final. Richard Muzaan of Ondo State and Simon Christopher of Plateau State secured bronze medals.

Tochukwu Okeke of the Nigerian Army retained his national title in the 87kg Greco-Roman category. Mathias Okuma of Edo State claimed silver after recording one win and one loss, while Samuel Nathaniel of Bayelsa State took bronze.
