Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has directed that major road infrastructure projects in Abuja be completed by May for commissioning by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The timeline aligns with the president's third anniversary in office. Wike made the announcement following an inspection of key project sites, including the China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC) interchange, the Arab Contractors' stretch at Airport Road–Kuje junction, and Gilmor Engineering Nigeria Limited's work on the Kuje first section. He described the progress as satisfactory, praising the contractors for delivering quality work on schedule. "We are coming out to check whether the promises made by the contractors will be fulfilled. The projects are expected to be handed over by the end of May, and from what we have seen, the work is progressing well," Wike said. He stressed that the inspections are part of a broader accountability strategy, with continuous monitoring to maintain momentum. Wike called the performance of CGC, Arab Contractors and Gilmor "very impressive," but warned that oversight would remain consistent.
