Troops in Kaduna State stopped an armed robbery attempt and killed one suspect during a rapid response operation. The incident occurred along the Mallagum–Kagoro–Kaura checkpoint axis in Kaura Local Government Area following a distress call from a motorist on Saturday. Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the operation in a post on X, citing security sources. Troops were deployed quickly and conducted a route clearance, leading to a confrontation with the suspects. During the exchange, soldiers used superior firepower, firing six rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. One armed robber was killed, while others fled into nearby bushes, believed to be wounded. A search of the scene yielded a locally made gun, a cutlass, and a knife. The military has intensified efforts to locate the escaped suspects. There were no reports of injuries among the troops or the motorist. Normalcy has since returned to the area.
