Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has stepped down as minister of state for labour and employment. She announced her resignation on Friday through a letter posted on her social media accounts. Her decision follows President Bola Tinubu's directive requiring political appointees who intend to contest for elective positions in the 2027 elections to resign by March 31. Onyejeocha's resignation came three days after the deadline passed. The president's order applied to all appointees seeking party nominations or running for public office. She is a member of the House of Representatives representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru federal constituency in Imo State. Onyejeocha previously served as a lawmaker before her appointment to the ministerial position. Her resignation aligns with the administration's move to enforce compliance with the electoral timeline.
