Troops from the Nigerian Army's 8 Division rescued five kidnapped victims and evacuated two injured civilians following an attack in Chacho Village, Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The incident occurred late on April 1 after reports of terrorist activities in the area. Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the operation in a post shared on X on Saturday. Responding to a distress call, soldiers arrived to find two civilians with gunshot wounds, who were promptly taken to a nearby hospital. The attackers had fled the scene before troops made contact. During a follow-up search, the military discovered and rescued five individuals who had been kidnapped but were abandoned by the fleeing assailants. "The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their families, while the injured persons are receiving treatment," the source stated. The operation concluded without further incident, with troops conducting clearance operations to secure the area.
