A 19-year-old Canadian man has been shot dead in a robbery in the Dominican Republic.
The incident occurred when two men, Tristan Primeau-Pointras and his brother, were returning to their hotel from a food establishment in the early morning hours of Monday. They were intercepted by the alleged aggressors on the Puerto Plata–Maimon highway for the purpose of a robbery. The robbers allegedly fired a shot, causing a fatal wound to Primeau-Pointras.
According to the Dominican Republic's national police force, two men have been arrested in connection with the killing. The suspects, Jordi Yúnior Severiano and Rangel Merete Rodriguez, are currently in custody and are expected to face justice in the coming hours.
