Troops from Operation Enduring Peace killed two suspected terrorists and arrested a kidnapping suspect during a series of clearance operations in Plateau State on 4 and 5 April. The operations spanned Wase, Qua'an Pan, and Shendam local government areas, targeting known criminal enclaves linked to recent violence. In Wase, soldiers engaged armed men along the Babangida–Adua road, killing two and recovering a locally made firearm and over 100 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, according to military spokesperson Captain Chinonso Oteh.
In Qua'an Pan's Namu District, troops intercepted four armed suspects following intelligence leads. During a follow-up raid on their hideout, three of the suspects attempted to escape and were killed in the exchange of fire. Soldiers also seized about 100 rounds of ammunition. In Shendam, troops working with local residents arrested a man suspected of kidnapping in Gidan Mangoro village. He is connected to a kidnapping reported on 3 April.
The operations follow a spate of violence across Plateau, including the Palm Sunday killings in Angwan Rukuba and subsequent attacks in Jos South. These actions come after President Bola Tinubu visited the state, directing security agencies to intensify efforts. Captain Oteh stated the military remains committed to dismantling armed groups in rural and forested areas and urged residents to report suspicious activities.
