Two months after a deadly attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, families of over 170 abducted residents remain without information on their loved ones. The assault, carried out by suspected Boko Haram members on February 3, 2026, resulted in numerous deaths and mass abductions, including young children. Abubakar Ibrahim, a survivor, confirmed that six of his family members were taken, while he lost two brothers during the raid. He said the community has been abandoned, with survivors scattered and living in fear.

Mohammed Abdulkarim, whose two-year-old child was among those kidnapped, described the emotional toll, noting the toddler's only word is "Daddy." Sadiq Musa, who lost a son and had two others abducted, stressed that children form a large portion of the captives. Families have received no ransom demands or communication from the abductors. The Kwara Police spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi (SP), confirmed that joint police and military efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims.

The silence from both the kidnappers and the government on the fate of 170 people, including toddlers, reveals a disturbing level of state inaction. Sa'idu Ahmed's report of 170 casualties was followed by no visible rescue operation or public update two months later. When even basic communication about efforts to locate the victims is absent, it deepens the trauma for families and erodes public trust in federal security agencies.
