Three newly elevated High Chiefs in Ibadanland did not attend the ceremony where their beaded crowns were presented. The symbolic regalia were handed over in absentia on Saturday, February 10, at the Ibadan Central Mosque, during the traditional coronation rites. The event was overseen by Oba Moyosore Oyelade, the Olubadan of Ibadan, who conferred the crowns on the representatives of the absent chiefs. The new Obas include Chief Taofeek Abiodun Adebayo, Chief Adewale Oladipupo Olaleye, and Chief Rasheed Adesina Aderoju. Each was recently elevated to the rank of second-class monarch within the Ibadan chieftaincy hierarchy. The Olubadan described the elevation as a recognition of their contributions to the socio-political development of Ibadanland. Sources close to the absent chiefs cited prior engagements as the reason for their non-appearance.
