Police in Nasarawa state say they have rescued a three-day-old boy who was kidnapped from Karu Local Government Area. The infant was taken on March 28, 2026, according to a statement from the command's spokesman, SP Ramhan Nansel, released Friday. Officers from Mararaba 'A' Division moved in at 4:00 am on April 3 after receiving actionable intelligence that led to the arrest of two women.

The suspects, 35-year-old Furera Abdulrahman from Rugan Juli and 39-year-old Sadiya Abdullahi of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market, were picked up during the raid. Both have confessed to taking the newborn and named another accomplice still at large. The boy is now back in safe custody after the overnight operation.

The confession from Furera Abdulrahman and Sadiya Abdullahi shows how easily newborns can be targeted in Nigeria's poorly secured communities. With one accomplice still free, this case exposes the thin line between hospital wards and black-market baby trafficking. Unless Nasarawa tightens oversight in maternity units, more families will face the same nightmare.
