Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has condemned an attack by suspected armed herdsmen on residents of Mbalom in Gwer East Local Government Area. He described the violence as barbaric and unacceptable, expressing sorrow for the affected families and affirming the government's solidarity with them. The governor pointed to a disturbing pattern of targeted attacks in parts of the state, calling them acts of terror that will not be tolerated. He reaffirmed his administration's determination to combat all forms of criminality threatening community safety.
Security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police Force, were commended for their prompt response. The governor said they have assured him they are close to apprehending the perpetrators and will ensure prosecution. He urged intensified operations to prevent further attacks and called on residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative by providing credible intelligence. According to his spokesman, Tersoo Kula, the Benue State government remains fully committed to protecting lives and property.
