Four people died and eight were injured in a lone accident involving a commercial Toyota HiAce bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The crash occurred at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday in front of Christopher University, according to Mr. Afolabi Odunsi, Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command. The vehicle, with registration number AGL 789 YL, had 13 occupants—11 adult males and two adult females. Four adult males died at the scene, while seven adult males and one adult female sustained injuries.
Preliminary investigations by the FRSC revealed the crash was caused by a burst tyre and speed violation, leading the driver to lose control. FRSC rescue operatives from the Mowe Unit Command responded promptly, extracting victims and transporting the injured to Famobis Hospital. The deceased were taken to Idera morgue. The bus and passengers' belongings were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) of the Redeemed Police Station. Odunsi said Ogun State Sector Commander Mr. Akinwunmi Fasakin expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. He advised motorists to observe speed limits and ensure tyres are roadworthy before travel.
