El-Rufai Withdraws ₦1 Billion Rights Suit Against Abuja Magistrate
Nasir El-Rufai, a former Governor of Kaduna State, has withdrawn a ₦1 billion fundamental rights enforcement suit against a chief magistrate at the FCT Magistrate's Court. El-Rufai's counsel, Ugochukwu Nnakwu, informed Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court Abuja that the withdrawal followed the judge's observation that the suit failed to specify the magistrate being sued. Nnakwu sought an adjournment to properly identify the name of the magistrate.
The withdrawal came after Justice Abdulmalik picked holes in the suit, pointing out that it did not specify the magistrate who was sued as the 2nd defendant. Nnakwu then filed a motion to withdraw the suit against the 2nd defendant and asked the court to strike out the name of the magistrate from the suit.
