Sheikh Musbaudeen Mohammad, widely known as Ainu Lah, has predicted the return of Jesus Christ within the next two decades. The Islamic cleric made the assertion during an interview on Sunday, grounding his claim in Qur'anic verses and Hadith. He cited Surah An-Nisa (4:157–158), which states Jesus was not crucified but raised by Allah, and Surah Az-Zukhruf (43:61), interpreted as pointing to Jesus as a sign of the approaching Hour. "Jesus Christ is coming soon. The timeline we are looking at is less than 20 years," he said.
Ainu Lah described a personal vision in which Jesus descended from the sky over seven days near the end of the world. He outlined signs preceding this event, including moral decay, shifting family roles, social disorder, and abnormal natural phenomena. He emphasized that both Muslims and Christians believe in Jesus' return, though with differing theological interpretations. In Islam, Jesus is seen as a prophet who will return to establish justice and unify believers. The cleric also referenced the Mahdi, a prophesied figure in Islamic eschatology expected to appear before Jesus. He urged individuals to pursue righteousness, sincere worship, and vigilance against deception.
Ainu Lah's prediction that Jesus will return in under 20 years rests on Islamic scripture, not empirical evidence. His vision of societal collapse and divine intervention reflects long-standing eschatological beliefs, not imminent reality. For Nigerians, this underscores how religious narratives can shape public discourse without factual verification. Faith may inspire moral reflection, but it does not substitute for measurable truth.
