Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged Christians to embrace the values of love, sacrifice, and hope during the Easter season. In a statement issued Friday in Osogbo and signed by his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke described Easter as a symbol of life overcoming death and light prevailing over darkness. He said the sacrifice of Jesus Christ should inspire renewed dedication to peace and service to humanity. Adeleke affirmed his administration's commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and protecting religious freedom for all citizens, regardless of faith. He encouraged Christians to practice humility, forgiveness, and love as tools for strengthening unity and advancing collective progress in the state.
Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East, also shared Easter reflections through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Segun-Progress. He praised Christians for completing the 40-day Lenten fast, calling it an act of discipline and spiritual devotion. Fadahunsi said Christ's sacrifice was rooted in love and urged Nigerians to let that same love guide their actions and relationships. He encouraged believers to sustain Lenten values beyond the season and to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria, especially among leaders.
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress issued its own Easter message through party Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi. The APC described the season as sacred, symbolising hope, renewal, and the triumph of light through Christ's resurrection. The party called on residents to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, and collective advancement in the state.
Adeleke's appeal for unity and religious tolerance is routine political theatre, not policy. His administration has not introduced any new measure to protect religious freedom or improve interfaith relations in Osun State. Without action, seasonal messages risk becoming empty echoes.
