A campaign organisation has made a significant gesture to a person with disability in Abuja, donating a wheelchair to ease his mobility. The organisation, led by Dr Patrick Ezie, who is aspiring to represent the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, also pledged to cover the medical expenses of a child with cerebral palsy. The donation and pledge were made during a medical outreach in Abuja on Sunday, which provided free medical services to residents of the area councils.
The medical outreach, which attracted participants from various communities, included dental care, eye screening, medical consultations, antenatal services, family planning, and distribution of essential drugs. Dr Ezie expressed his commitment to addressing healthcare challenges across communities in the constituency, regardless of political timelines. He believes that individuals and stakeholders must complement government efforts to improve access to healthcare.
The gesture has been welcomed by the community, with more than 20 people receiving dental care during the exercise. The beneficiaries of the outreach have expressed gratitude to the organisation for their support. The campaign organisation plans to continue providing medical support to residents in need.
The gesture by Dr Ezie's campaign organisation is a testament to the importance of community involvement in addressing healthcare challenges. By providing medical support to residents in need, the organisation is demonstrating its commitment to improving access to healthcare, regardless of political timelines. This initiative sets a positive precedent for other political aspirants to follow, and it is hoped that it will inspire more community-led initiatives in the future.
