Suspected bandits ambushed a vehicle along the Karadua–Musawa Road in Katsina State on Sunday, killing a police officer and two civilians. The attackers blocked the road and opened fire on a Volkswagen Golf, killing two occupants instantly. The Katsina State Police Command spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, confirmed security operatives responded to a distress call and engaged the gunmen with a joint team including military personnel, community watch corps and vigilantes. The attackers were dislodged, and victims were evacuated to a nearby hospital.
However, the bandits regrouped and launched a fresh assault on the Musawa Police Division. Officers repelled the attack after a gun battle that left one police officer dead. Katsina State Police Commissioner Ali Umar-Fage confirmed the officer's death, calling him a hero who died in the line of duty. Additional security assets were deployed to the area, and a full investigation was ordered to track the attackers. Umar-Fage urged residents to remain calm and share credible intelligence to aid the manhunt.
