The event, themed Harnessing the Role of Nigerians in the Diaspora for National Development, attracted a full audience of dignitaries from government, academia, media, and the Nigerian diaspora. The Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, delivered the keynote address, urging Nigerians abroad to actively invest in the country's transformation. He cited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's removal of fuel subsidies and unification of the foreign exchange market as key reforms steering Nigeria toward production-driven growth. Tunji-Ojo noted improved fiscal discipline, including reduced external debt obligations to the International Monetary Fund. He described the diaspora as a critical force in Nigeria's development and encouraged strategic participation in emerging opportunities. Femi Salako, CEO and Publisher of Triangle International Magazine, said the milestone marked a decade of impactful storytelling and global engagement. He reaffirmed the magazine's commitment to strengthening ties between Nigeria and its diaspora. The event featured a panel discussion on diaspora contributions, investment, and policy alignment. Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo received the Personality of the Year Award for his reform-driven leadership. A London lecture hall filled with elites does not mean Nigeria's diaspora is being effectively engaged. While Tunji-Ojo's praise for fiscal reforms and diaspora potential sounds progressive, the real test lies in whether those abroad see tangible openings beyond ceremonial recognition. The Personality of the Year award changes nothing unless matched by accessible investment frameworks and policy consistency at home.
