Taiwo Fasoranti has stepped down as Secretary to the Government of Ondo State to pursue a senatorial seat in 2027. He officially resigned on Friday, submitting a letter declaring his intention to contest for the All Progressives Congress ticket for Ondo Central Senatorial District. Fasoranti, appointed SSG by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in 2024, cited over 30 years of experience in medicine and public administration as foundational for the legislative role. He previously served as director at the State House Medical Centre in Abuja before retiring in 2024.
In his resignation letter, Fasoranti stated, "I, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, hereby formally express my interest to contest for the position of Senator representing the good people of Ondo Central Senatorial District." He described the decision as rooted in a "deep sense of responsibility" and a "lifelong commitment to public service." He highlighted values of "humility, integrity, and dedication" as guiding principles. Fasoranti, son of Afenifere leader Chief Reuben Fasoranti, called on residents of Ondo Central to back his ambition.
