**Good News for Small Business Owners and Low-Income Earners in Nigeria**
As we celebrate Ramadan and Lent, the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has brought a message of hope to small business owners and low-income earners across the country. According to him, the government's new tax reforms are designed to eliminate the burden of multiple levies and charges, which have been a major source of stress for many Nigerians.
Shettima spoke at a recent interfaith breaking of fast ceremony, where he urged government officials to be champions of the administration's reforms. He emphasized that the government is genuinely concerned about the plight of Nigerians and is working hard to lift many out of poverty without adding to their burdens. "We have to educate the people, we have to mount the pulpits and take our government to the Nigerian people and tell them the truth," he said.
The Vice President highlighted some of the gains of the economic reforms, including an increase in the nation's foreign exchange reserves, streamlining of the exchange rates, and the removal of a fuel subsidy that had favored only a few for many years. He praised President Bola Tinubu for having the courage to address issues that past administrations avoided.
Shettima noted that the removal of the fuel subsidy was a bold step that has already yielded positive results, with the economy bouncing back in just three years. He thanked government officials for their support and partnership, and advised them to be more active in sharing facts about the administration's achievements and to be ready to counter falsehoods propagated by the opposition parties.
This is a welcome development for small business owners and low-income earners in Nigeria, who have long been plagued by the burden of multiple levies and charges. With the government's new tax reforms, many Nigerians can look forward to a brighter future, free from the stress of excessive taxation. As Shettima said, "The truth must be told, and we must educate the people."
