Razer, a well-known electronics brand, has released its first split ergonomic keyboard, the Pro Type Ergo, designed to prioritize user comfort and productivity. This new keyboard features a unique curved and split layout that aims to reduce finger crossover and unnecessary reach, making it easier for users to perform frequent actions.
The Pro Type Ergo is priced at $189.99, making it slightly more expensive than Razer's previous keyboard, the Pro Type Ultra, which launched in 2021 for $159.99. Despite its higher price, the Pro Type Ergo boasts several advanced features, including customizable LED lighting, ultra-low-profile keys, and sound-dampening layers.
According to Razer, the curved layout of the Pro Type Ergo is designed to fit the natural resting position of the user's arms and hands, while the split design includes dual "B" keys and an extra backspace key for improved comfort. The keyboard also features a Razer Command Dial in each corner, which can be customized to change its functionality depending on the app being used.
The Pro Type Ergo has a non-removable padded wrist rest and a 10-degree slope, which can be adjusted with up to seven degrees of front or rear tilt to accommodate individual preferences. Battery life is rated at up to three months on a full charge, and the keyboard can connect up to five devices.
