Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Tijani, announced the deployment of personnel and security assets across the state in preparation for Easter celebrations. The move targets worship centres, recreational spots, major highways, transportation hubs, and critical infrastructure to ensure public safety. In a statement issued Friday by police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi, Tijani said a comprehensive security framework had been activated to maintain order before, during, and after the festivities. Special focus was placed on riverine communities, with Marine Police units conducting surveillance and patrols on waterways to deter criminal activity.
The police are collaborating with other agencies on traffic management to ease movement during the holiday period. He extended Easter greetings to Christians, encouraging reflection on love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence. The commissioner reaffirmed the police command's commitment to protecting lives and property and emphasized the value of community cooperation in crime prevention.
Deploying officers to churches and waterways is routine, not revelation, and Lagosians have heard Fatai Tijani's assurances before.
