Ondo PDP kicks against dissolution claim, vows to resist move
**PDP Ondo Vows to Resist Alleged Plot to Destabilize the Party**
The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted strongly to claims of a plot to dissolve its State Executive Committee. According to the party leadership, the purported move is a 'political coup' aimed at destabilizing the party.
State Chairman of the PDP, Dupe Aisida, stated that no formal communication from the national body has been received to justify the dissolution of the state executives. She claimed that the state leadership remains fully operational and intact.
The controversy started with a statement circulating on social media, claiming that a National Caretaker Working Committee had dissolved the duly elected state executive. But Aisida dismissed this as misleading and unconstitutional.
She explained that the state leadership emerged through a transparent process, monitored by relevant authorities, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the police, and the Department of State Services (DSS). This means that the elections were conducted fairly and in line with the guidelines.
In a bid to clear the air, Aisida addressed journalists at the party's secretariat in Akure, pointing out that there was no basis for the dissolution of the state executive. She emphasized that the party's internal processes must be respected, and any attempt to undermine these processes will not be tolerated.
This development is coming at a time when the PDP is seeking to regain its lost momentum in Ondo State. The party's leadership is determined to resist any move that could undermine its efforts to regain relevance in the state. As the party navigates this challenging period, it is essential to ensure that its internal processes are respected and that the rule of law is upheld.
In the words of Dupe Aisida, the PDP is not going down without a fight. The party's commitment to democracy and the rule of law will be upheld at all costs.
