The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has condemned the killing of Eze Josephat Ikegwu, traditional ruler of Isinkwo Community in Onicha Local Government Area. He described the murder as "gruesome and senseless," calling it a barbaric act and a direct attack on peace, unity, and the collective conscience of the state. Nwifuru expressed deep grief over the incident and extended condolences to the royal family, the Isinkwo community, and the people of Onicha LGA.

He disclosed that security agencies have been mobilized to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing and ensure the perpetrators are swiftly apprehended. The governor emphasized that no individual or group, regardless of status or connections, would be spared if found involved. Nwifuru reaffirmed his administration's commitment to peace and security, stating, "The sanctity of human life remains non-negotiable under my watch." He urged traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, and security operatives to collaborate in maintaining peace across Ebonyi State.
