Speaking as Christians mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Ojelabi urged party members and residents to reflect on the values of humility, forgiveness, and service. He said Christ's sacrifice embodied love and suffering for humanity, offering a model for nation-building. "His selflessness, love, and ultimate act of suffering as an atonement for the sins of man remind us of the values of humility, charity, forgiveness, and service to our fellow brothers and sisters," he said. Ojelabi referenced John 19:28-30, recalling Christ's final words: "It is finished," which he described as the fulfilment of a divine mission. He expressed hope that every personal and national hardship would likewise come to an end. The APC chairman described Easter as a time for transformation and fresh beginnings. He prayed for breakthrough, peace, and divine favour for all Nigerians. While acknowledging national challenges, he expressed optimism, urging collective effort and unity. "With faith in God, personal resilience, and a shared commitment to progress, we shall overcome," he said.

Cornelius Ojelabi's call for unity rings hollow when the APC in Lagos has been marked by factionalism and legal tussles over leadership. Moral exhortations from party chairs do not rebuild public trust — consistent, transparent actions do. For ordinary Nigerians, such messages offer little relief from fuel prices or unemployment.
