The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its message to President Bola Tinubu on his 74th birthday. The APC described the ADC's remarks as "disgraceful" and reflective of a party in crisis.
The ADC's message was deemed to have fallen short of basic standards of decency and civility. According to the APC, the ADC's conduct was "not only irresponsible" but also a reflection of an opposition in deep crisis. The party drew a comparison with the response of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to the personal loss of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The ICPC's dignified and empathetic response to El-Rufai's personal loss was highlighted as a stark contrast to the ADC's approach. The APC accused the ADC of abandoning maturity and embracing desperation. The party urged the ADC to redirect its focus toward internal organisation rather than "senseless attacks."
The Lagos APC remains committed to governance and service delivery, while the ADC continues to flounder in chaos and irrelevance.
The ADC's toxic outburst against President Tinubu on his 74th birthday expose the party's desperation and hopelessness. The Lagos APC's spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, is right to question the ADC's maturity and civility in the face of adversity. The ADC's inability to distinguish between legitimate opposition and sheer recklessness is a clear indication of its political bankruptcy. Nigerians deserve a more constructive opposition, one that can think, organise, and present alternatives rather than lashing out in fits of frustration. The ADC's focus on senseless attacks only serves to further erode its public standing and reinforce its irrelevance in Nigerian politics.
