The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions for the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to take place on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) on Lagos Island. To facilitate smooth movement during the procession, vehicular access will be restricted along key roads connecting to TBS. Affected routes include King George V Road near Mobil Filling Station, Flag House inbound to TBS, Force Road inbound to TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound to TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House.
All connecting roads to Moloney Road—Military Road by Old Defence Building, Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street—will also be closed during the event. The government has designated alternative parking areas, including the Yoruba Lawn Tennis Club Car Park, Zone 2 Car Park opposite Island Club, Museum Kitchen Car Park, and The Bell Car Park by Island Maternity. Motorists are urged to adjust travel plans and comply with instructions from Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officers stationed at diversion points. The state government appealed for public understanding and cooperation to ensure the event runs without disruption.
