Three people were killed and one injured in an attack by gunmen in Nyamgo Gyel, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Friday evening. The victims, Luka Sandu Pam (36), Samuel Davou (38), and Deme Saidu (35), were ambushed around 7 p.m. while returning home from Gero on a motorcycle. They were part of a group of about 15 youths coming back from a mining site when suspected armed herdsmen opened fire. Dung Davou, Gyel Youth Leader, said the gunfire caused panic and scattering, leaving three dead. The injured survivor was taken to hospital by police.

Barrister Solomon Dalyop, Chairman of the Berom Youth Moulder Association, confirmed the victims had attended Good Friday services before the attack. He said community leaders had recently raised concerns at a Nigerian Army meeting in Jos South about suspicious movements near Gero, Rafin Bauna, and Dutsen Kura. Dalyop claimed armed groups now occupy forested areas across Plateau State and warned of escalating violence without intervention. Police evacuated the injured but no official statement was issued, as the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, did not respond to calls.

💡 NaijaBuzz Take

Barrister Solomon Dalyop stood beside three fresh corpses and spoke of army meetings and bush occupations, yet no soldiers stopped the killings. If security agencies already knew about armed movements in Gero and did nothing, then such meetings are theatre. Nigerians in Plateau communities are being told to stay vigilant as if vigilance stops bullets. Another attack, another statement—this pattern suggests protection is performative, not practical.
