Ghana will not attend the Africa Energies Summit scheduled for May 12 to 14 in London, citing systemic exclusion of Black African professionals from leadership and decision-making roles at the event. The Energy Chamber Ghana confirmed the boycott in a statement released on Friday, condemning the organisers, Frontier Energy Network, for ongoing discrimination and marginalisation of African voices. "Ghana's boycott is not simply about one event; it is about principle, representation, and ensuring that African countries are treated as equal partners in discussions about their own resources," the chamber said. It stressed that Ghana is actively working to stabilise oil production, monetise gas, and expand energy infrastructure to drive industrial growth. The chamber accused Frontier Energy Network of routinely sidelining African experts and urged Ghanaian policymakers, engineers, investors, and academics to withdraw from the summit. Executive chairman Joshua B. Narh stated on LinkedIn that "platforms that carry Africa's name must reflect Africa's people" and called for transparency and measurable inclusion. Mozambique has also pulled out, with its officials calling the organisers' hiring practices offensive. The African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO) and the African Energy Chamber (AEC) have backed the boycott.
