A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) aligned with Nafiu Bala Gombe staged a protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja. The group demanded that INEC comply with a subsisting court order, which they claim recognises Gombe as the legitimate national chairman of the party. Dr. Abimiku Monday, Special Adviser on Strategy to Gombe's faction, led the demonstration and accused INEC of deliberately disregarding the judicial directive. Protesters carried placards and chanted slogans calling for the electoral body to respect the rule of law. The demonstration occurred on Thursday, with security personnel maintaining order at the premises. INEC has not issued a public response to the protest or the alleged court order as of Friday morning.
