Dangote: Tinubu presidency keeps mum as fuel price hits N1,400 per liter
**Fuel Price Crisis Hits Nigeria: Tinubu Presidency Remains Mute**
Nigerians are facing a serious financial challenge as the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, has hit a staggering N1,400 per liter. This is in addition to the rise in Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), also known as diesel, to N1,750 per liter. The increase in fuel prices is linked to the recent hike in the gantry price by Dangote Refinery, which has now set the price at N1,175 per liter for petrol and N1,620 per liter for diesel.
As the fuel price continues to soar, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's presidency remains eerily quiet. Despite the rising cost of living, the presidency has failed to provide a statement or take any action to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.
A check by Daily Post revealed that several filling stations in Abuja, including Ranoil and Empire, have already raised their prices to between N1,350 and N1,400 per liter for petrol. Diesel prices may reach as high as N1,750 per liter, up from N1,365 per liter. In contrast, MRS filling stations are selling fuel at a relatively lower price of N1,200 per liter.
A source at an MRS filling station in Abuja, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed that the fuel price will increase to N1,200 per liter from Tuesday, March 10, 2026. This comes as no surprise, given the recent hike in global crude prices, which has led to a surge in Brent crude to $98.86 per barrel.
The Tinubu presidency's silence on the fuel price crisis has left many wondering if they are aware of the impact of their inaction on the average Nigerian. As the cost of living continues to rise, Nigerians are left to grapple with the harsh reality of a failing economy. It remains to be seen if the presidency will finally break its silence and take concrete steps to address the fuel price crisis.
