The incident occurred on March 5, 2019. The convicts, who claimed to be members of the Iceland cult group, were found guilty of conspiracy, cultism, kidnapping, and murder. The court heard that they conspired to kidnap and kill the victim before severing his head and sensitive body parts. In her judgement, Justice Augusta Chukwu stated that the prosecution presented sufficient evidence to prove the charges against the three convicts beyond a reasonable doubt. The convict's confessional statements and other evidence supported the claim that they were involved in the heinous crime. In addition to the death sentence, the court also sentenced Loveday Legah, a member of the secret cult group linked to the crime, to life imprisonment. The court ruled that Legah's involvement in the cult group was established beyond doubt. The widow of the deceased, Pretty Neewa-Sunda, expressed her gratitude to the court for delivering justice for her late husband. The prosecuting counsel, Precious Ordu, also commended the court for its thorough judgement, describing it as a victory for justice.
