**Boko Haram Terrorists Strike Again: Herder Killed, 1,400 Sheep Rustled in Borno**
In a disturbing incident, Boko Haram terrorists have struck a nomadic settlement in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, killing one herder and rustling 1,400 sheep. The attack, which occurred in Wuturo village near Konduga town, has left the community in shock.
According to the Borno State Police Command, the incident happened on March 10, 2026, when suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists invaded the settlement on five motorcycles. The attackers opened fire, killing 40-year-old Ahmadu Baida and injuring his brother, Mohammadu Baida, who sustained a gunshot wound on his left leg.
The terrorists also made off with 1,400 sheep belonging to the herdsmen. However, a combined team of police, military, and other security stakeholders, including the Civilian Joint Task Force and local hunters, swiftly responded to the scene and evacuated the victims to the hospital.
While Ahmadu Baida was pronounced dead on arrival, Mohammadu Baida is receiving treatment and is reportedly responding positively. The state Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, has condemned the attack and commiserated with the family of the deceased, assuring residents of the area of the Command's commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
This incident is a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges facing our country, particularly in the North-East region. As we continue to grapple with the menace of Boko Haram, it is essential that we come together to support affected communities and work towards a more secure future for all Nigerians.
The Borno State Police Command has activated coordinated operational strategies with relevant security agencies and community stakeholders to track down the perpetrators, prevent further attacks, and recover the rustled livestock. While this is a step in the right direction, it is crucial that we remain vigilant and continue to support our security agencies in their efforts to keep us safe.
