Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Ondo is set to become a university.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has received a proposal to upgrade the institution to a University of Agriculture, Science and Technology.
The proposal was presented by a committee led by Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, who stated that the move aims to address the increasing demand for university education and improve the institution's global competitiveness.
The proposed university will have multiple faculties and a five-year sustainability plan to ensure smooth operation.
A draft law is awaiting approval from the National Universities Commission, NUC.
